New unexpected species today. Was hoping to Catch and Cook my first Northern Pike. Went to my local creek (fletchers creek) to catch some creek chub for Pike bait. To my suprise I found baby bass and baby pumpkinseeds. I’ve fished this creek for chub since I started fishing last October and I’ve never seen bass or pumpkinseeds. Pleasantly suprised I struggled to for an hour to catch 8 chub and sent it 2 hours west to Lake Gibson. After baking in the sun for 9 hours and losing the only pike of the day, I was about to pack up and head home when this large drum smoked my creek chub. He fought so hard I thought it was a huge pike. P.S I took pictures after cutting his gills, that’s why he’s bleeding. I was pretty determined to bring a fish home today, so he ended up in the cooler.
