#CATCH24 With temps warming to the high 20s over the weekend, i decided to chase some impoundment Aussie Bass. I couldn't get the sounder working on the kayak yesterday morning, so I had to try and find them the old-fashioned way. I set up to troll a crankbait off each side of the yak and started working my way around the reedy edges of the dam. As I rounded one of my trusty points, I got my first solo double hook up on the kayak. I was surprised I managed to get both to the net. I covered a large part of the dam over the next few hours, casting, trolling, and changing lures to no avail. It was still great to finally get back on the water after a few months hiatus 🤙🎣💯

Me and a mate went to the dam we both landed a 42 cm bass each and I landed an elusive toga. Such good fun to catch the aerobatics are something else.

After seeing some topwater feeding action, I cast a Chase Baits flexi frog over the ripples and into the shallows. I popped it through the lillys, then a slow retrieval in the open water, and I watched my frog get hit. It went straight for the weed pulling string and fighting hard. As I got it closer to the kayak, it spectacularly went airborne, showing me the beautiful big pink spots and massive scales. That's when I knew it was the prized Australian native Saratoga. After a few more big runs and another aerial display, I finally netted this cracking fish. What a fish and what a handful to photograph on a kayak alone. Check out the size of that mouth and how graciously she swam off. Get amongst it 🤙🎣💯🤘

This is what made this mornings trip worth it. I cast a light green Chase Baits Flexi Frog over the ripples of a surface feeding fish. After a few pops through the lillys, then a slower retrieve along the top, it hit. It ran me into the weed and lillys, pulling string and going nuts. I managed to get it near the kayak, and it went airborne. What a sight, that's when I knew it was the prized Saratoga. I was so excited. After a few more big runs and another jump, I finally netted a her. What a fish and what a handful to photograph alone. Check out how gracefully she swam away 😁. Get amongst it and tight lines 🤙🎣💯🤘

Was on the dam at 6 o'clock this morning, and the water was like a mirror. I got the first bass trolling around the first point not long after putting the lure in the water. I thought it was gonna be a good session. Soon after, I wachanged to a light green Chase Baits Flexi Frog and naild a nis fish on the surface amongst the lilly pads (I will do a separate post for this fish). It was very quiet after that, I tried various spots to no avail. I decided to start making my way back and clicked my electric motor into top speed, and the mounting bracket broke, leaving me to hang on to an out of control motor while trying to switch it of 🤦♂️🤬. I managed to be able to get back to the landing area by physically holding the motor in place and caught a few more little bass on the way back. All in all, I caught fish, so I guess it was a good session 🤙🎣
