With tropical cyclone Alfred making its way down the Queensland coast, I decided I had to get a quick land based session in at a spot I hadn't been to in ages. I could see some topwater action going on, so of course, I opted to throw a small popper around. After a few hits, my lure was smashed by what I think was a tarpon. It hit hard, pulled string, then went airborne. It pulled me around a bit more before spitting the hooks about 3 metres from my feet.I am guessing it was about 35-40cm. I was absolutely spewing as it would've been a first. I casted and casted, trying to get on to another, but it wasn't to be. Alli could muster up was this nice fat spangled perch and a decent Australian bass. Stay safe if you are in the path of Cyclone Alfred, and I hope you aren't too badly affected. Nice little bass this morning. First one actually of the year.

Ever so close to the 40cm oh well next time.

Caught another 40 bass the other day but got no photo, then I catch another one.
