Lake Cania

My annual Bass and Barra trip to the freshwater Lakes Callide and Cania is now over for another year. I fished 6 days, 2 sessions / day at each venue. My allup tally was one barra hooked, but lost him at the boat, 43 bass hooked, but only boated 31, best was this mornings catch at 39cm, 2 Southern Saratoga, best was 47cm earlier this week. The standout lure was the small crank bait trolled in 2-3 metres depth along the weed edges early mornings. Looking forward to a return trip October 2025.

Just to prove it wasn't a fluke, another Saratoga boated this morning. I now have a 47cm PB. Bass were also biting, best at 37cm. Both fish released.

Finally another species ticked off the bucket list 🙌. A Southern Saratoga under the water lillies at Lake Cania this morning. These fish go aerial on the light gear, 6lb braid and 10Ib leader. Released well to fight another day.

All Australian Bass caught ranged in size from 22-33cm.
