Nice big Salmon Grouper

My stepfather took me on a 1/2 day charter. We had his neffewinlaw with us. It was awesome. I caught 6 various species.

Lingcod and limited reds for my first trip on board Coral Sea at the Sea Landing Santa Barbara after the open season. It was a beautiful day, we fished 400 feet deep for big lings and reds. We used cut squid 🦑 and 10-12 oz jigs. Everyone is getting good action non-stop that we have to stop and start to return to the Sea Landing around 11:40am . Gear used: Shimano Talica 10II , AllStar Stella boat rod 7 ft, 50Ib braided line with 40Ib fluorocarbon leader, VMC 3x strong 1/0 bait hooks. It was fun but I had high hope and expectation that I wish Captain could have gone to the shallow water for more ocean white fish and sheephead. Oh well will get them next time. #fishinhole 🎣 thanks for reading the whole story. Here is the trick, in order to be successful, bring your own squid and use the whole squid on double dropper loop. Swing the whole set up away from the boat and from someone who fish the first time instead just drop it. Hope it help and tight lines as always.
