Second Lake

Masked the whole Airbnb house got it ready to spray. Went out for a couple casts found a new deadfall;-)

Finally got some yakkin done and tested my hand out, gotta go back to the glove for a lil while longer, but I managed to tough it out and land 3, 2 on the bellows gill and 1 on the dark sleeper...

Took kollard out this morning for the first time this year and she didn't disappoint, stuck a stringer and didn't even have to go in the tackle box, bellows gill was all they wanted...

Topic for the day: wearing the right color shirt! ;-) Once when I was a kid fishing with my grandfather, we got skunked… when we got home my grandpa told my grandma that he wore the wrong color shirt. My mom overheard (she married into a fishing family) and teased him for years about it! Fish fashion humor aside, grandpa was right… being conscious of color contrast, visibility of approach, and using cover effectively all makes a big difference! Grandpa taught me to cast from 30’ away to the spot you intend to stand or put your boat in, you might get your first fish right there! Always approach a good spot with stealth weather on foot or by boat. I can hear him say “don’t bang on the boat!!” Even loud conversation can alert wary old lunkers of your presence. And of course, wear the right color shirt ;-). As a matter of housekeeping: please don’t post your everyday catches here. Worked a Saturday… fished at dawn at outlet of Luzerne, hopped up to second lake put in & caught an ambitious pickerel. Noticed a new set of beaver neighbors moved in to the old muskrat mound and made a lodge. Hopped up to fourth lake state park, one gate was closed, but the other side had cones with a space for my truck;-)! Rangers were still waking up in their cabin and their yard was full of deer. Didn’t catch anything, finished sheathing and grace coating roof, fished second lake put in again after dark green n my way home:-)

Ended up getting on a few slime darts as well, they def fight different in the fall even the small ones must be the cooler water temps. Spinnerbait and yum dinger got it done. Falls in full swing here in NY...
