#Catch23 quick stop after a long day setting piers for a customer deck. Brought along a Congolese refugee who needed some work, I bought him some work boots and gloves from tractor supply and had to speak French all day since that was his only language. Thank goodness for my solid C in two years of public high school French lol! Random event of the day: saw a dripping wet kid in his 20’s dragging a flat water kayak down the road looking bedraggled. He approached me at my truck to ask if he could put back in here and we’re there anymore rapids between here and warrensburg… lol!! It’s actually class III & IV , and even a pro wouldn’t go alone. Kid was lucky to be alive. I didn’t let him back on the water, gave him a ride instead. Told him to enjoy himself this evening… it’s a freebie… he’s alive:-) Fished a couple casts at the bridge, and pulled this skinny 17” from beneath :-) Bon soir!

#catch22 Fishing upstream from the silver bridge tonight. Beautiful and wild stretch of creek. Saw beavers, deer, great blue heron, and a baby bird get eaten by a bass (it was running fast on top of the water squeaking and suddenly disappeared, and then I swear I could hear “the circle of life” from the Lion King playing) I paddled up further knowing where I wanted to cast on the way back!! What i mistook for early Fourth of July fireworks, turned out to be an impressive thunderstorm, I discovered upon turning the boat around to float back downstream. This cut short the session, the fish were biting… oh well. I’m beat, it’s time for dinner:-)

#Catch22 Fished with my buddy Lu and his wife after work this evening. I showed them where to catch some nice bass along the creek headed to the lake. I missed three decent fish, all on the fly rod. I was about ready to call it quits when I decided to put on a Berkeley choppo 120 and let it drag 60’ behind the boat while I rowed the raddison straight underneath the silver bridge and headed to the parsons pool… just as I could hear the choppo behind me clear the bridge abutment by about 10’… I thought someone threw a hand grenade into the water! This guy fought all power, very fast in his moves in the water, peeled drag a couple times! I was less than smooth with the net, but got him anyhow;-)!! 21 inches and the only fish on the evening:-)!
