Texas Rigged 3/16 oz into sticks

Nice 2 pounder. I had 2 others that came off right at the boat. Even this 2 pounder had what appeared to be a pretty weak hook set. I'm mainly using 5lb test with success but perhaps I'm being too reserved on my hook sets and reel in because I'm too scared of breaking my line. I'm up to any suggestions. Going to try to find me that 3 pounder tomorrow and I'll be going ape mode on these hook sets and we'll see what happens. And to anyone fishing these inland So Cal lakes. Smoke black with purple flake has been working for me and my sorry skills so I'm sure more experienced anglers can crush it with that color. Happy hunting friends
