Recent Catches At Rouge River

Finally I caught one by using roe. I appreciate the guy who helped landing the fish by his net. However, I really wish the anglers who show up late don't stand 3 m at both my left and right side

Tough day with tough conditions. Between ice flow and guides freezing up, i managed to convince this guy, after switching 5 times with a new nymph pattern i tied up last night. This might be the end of fly fishing and floatfishing here in these east ditche and rivers..🤷♂️

As temperature dropping there were only very few left willing to bite. This is my last one of the year!

Although we are in late fall, the temperature over the past two days has felt more like summer! I seized this rare opportunity to go bass fishing, and I had great success! During my 90-minute outing, I managed to catch a total of 12 fish. I brought along a box of assorted lures with me. I set a simple rule for myself: I would continue using a lure until it caught a fish. Once I successfully hooked one, I would immediately switch to another lure. However, if after 10 casts I still hadn’t caught anything with that lure, I would move it to my "failure" box and try the next one. Today, I observed that all the topwater lures didn’t perform well, while vibrating blade baits proved to be the most effective. Interestingly, there were four of them that I just bought new from the tackle shop yesterday. Most of my lures cost only a few bucks each, but among all the lures that caught fish today, one of them set me back a whopping $40. Can you guess which one it was?

Today, I completed another round of assorted lure challenges, and it was a success! However, I can definitely sense that the bass are becoming more selective about their meals. Only 50% of the lures I tried managed to attract a hit. With the seasonal change approaching, I believe the fish will soon slow down their feeding. Among all the lures, one holds a special place in my heart. I stumbled upon it while cleaning out an old tackle box in my basement—something I hadn’t seen in nearly 23 years! I purchased this lure back in college at a local Canadian Tire store in 2001. I can still vividly recall every fish it has caught, as if it were just yesterday. Today marked its first time seeing water after all those years, and I successfully caught a fish with it! It was a truly sentimental moment for me. Despite all the changes over the years, one thing remains constant: my enthusiasm for fishing is as strong as ever! Can you guys guess which lure it was?

The temperatures are dropping every weekend! There are still a few weeks left to go fishing before the bass stop feeding. I seized this late fall opportunity when the fish are aggressively stocking up on food for the winter—they're incredibly hungry during this time! I brought along a new box of assorted lures and tried them all out. To my surprise, almost every one I used caught a fish! Interestingly, my largest lure landed the smallest fish today, while two of my smallest lures didn’t catch anything at all. Although most of the fish were small, they were far from timid; in fact, they were quite ambitious! Among all the lures, there’s only one that I handcrafted myself. Can you guess which one it is?
