A dark spot behind gill opening. Gill rakers fine and numerous (Ref. 188). Branchiostegal rays 6 (Ref. 4639). Silvery to brassy, with a bluish back. Stomach thick-walled, gizzard-like (Ref. 7251).

I landed 5 species of fish today! I set some hefty goals for myself, however, I wasn’t able to accomplish any of them. Thankfully I had a ton of fun and got to hold some beautiful fish. I was very close to checking off one of these goals today and that was to land a Blue Catfish, which would be a new species. At my final spot of the day I hooked into a very large catfish that I think was most likely a blue. Unfortunately he broke me off after a short fight…
