Alligator Lake Stream

the week leading up to Christmas we where blessed with a amazing gift, texas tarpon! over the course of fishing almost every day for a week with our fly rods (a 5 and 7 wt) we managed to land 7 and jump about a dozen fish!

2 spotted gar on the 9wt a few weeks ago, only got the photo of the one, had a shot at 3 gar over 4 foot, with the largest one being about 5 to 5.5 foot long, but didn't manage to out a hook in any of them.

That is a 4.5 to 5 foot gator Gar. Could have potentially beaten the texas state fly record for gator gar. He wouldnt touch any fly I threw at him. He turned and charged the fly but then he got a breath and sunk down, we didnt seem him agian after 15 minutes.

2 gator gar, 3 slotted over about 3 hours of fly fishing, dodging cars on the back cast and gators on the front, and saving round snakes all day. All in all pretty good and pretty fun.

4 spotted gar on the fly rod, had an absolute blast catching them, pulled the hook on 7 others, then pulled the fly out of the mouth of probably 15 others. All and all a blast!

33.5 inches, on a yo zuri jerk bait.

A nice 18 incher on a big bites shrimp soft plastic. Broke off on trash the cast right after him though.
