Two beautiful kastmaster brownies out of the Pohopoco. With how much ice there is up here I was lucky enough to even find any open water to cast in.

OLD CATCH #3: About a month ago I took a trip to Beltzville Lake and was fortunate enough to be able to use my kayak. I started by kayaking up a long cove in hopes of finding some Smallmouth, however, I wasn’t able to hook into any. At the very end of the cove I managed to find a few pockets in the creek that held some sunfish and rock bass, which I couldn’t keep off my hook. After making my way back out into the main section of the lake, I decided to target some catfish, so I threw a live bluegill on the bottom, but unfortunately after about an hour and a half of no bites, I called it quits. While kayaking back I found a dead fish floating on the water, which turned out to be a striped bass that seemed to have just recently turned belly up. After the slow day on the kayak, I ventured down to the creek that flowed out of Beltzville Lake and fished below a small spillway for some trout. There I was able to land a nice brown and a rainbow. To better my chances of catching a fish, I climbed onto the top of the dam and tried sight casting some trout. I pretty quickly had a bite from a huge rainbow that easily could have been over 20 inches, but unfortunately I missed the hookset. I also stupidly sat down on a lure someone had snagged on top of the dam and got hooked past the barb. It took a while to rip it out but I was pretty much stuck to the dam for a solid five minutes. At least it was a nice Rapala that I got to keep lol.

Spent some time this morning exploring Pohopoco Creek below the Beltzville Dam (app sees it as the Lehigh). Very pleasant piece of tailwater but flows were apparently a little low this morning. I managed two nice browns nymphing some deeper slots. #Catch23

Caught a fallfish on a rusty spinner. Hooked a red breast sunfish as well and wrapped around my leg and hooked my shoe. Beautiful to be outside.
