Cimarron River

Probably my last trout of the trip! Finally got my hands on a net, and I can see why everybody carries them. Sad to be leaving the rockies, but I had such a blast!

One of two that I caught on my 2 hour stroll up the river today! The other guy jumped off my hook before I could snap a picture. I really need to get a net when I go out! 🤣 In the same span of time, my father-in-law caught over 15! 🤯

14 rainbows in under 30 minutes! And that's not counting the six or so that jumped off my hook before I landed them. I didn't have a net, and they wouldn't stay still long enough for me to take pictures of most of them, but you get the idea. I had started off fishing this hole with a fly rod and a stone fly, but the fish just kept ignoring me. So I went and grabbed my spinning reel, and my 1/16 oz rooster tail and went to work. I feel like I now understand the meaning of shooting fish in a bucket! Second photo is this beautiful watering hole, third is my battle scarred rooster tail, and finally the two fish that I actually managed to get pictures of!
