Just a quickie tonight on my way home from rec basketball league. My goal was to catch & release one fish and get home for dinner. Caught a smallmouth on the lipless crank. One and done!

Did some shore fishing while waiting to pick up daughters from dance. Hoping to get a walleye, but at least I got a smallie! As a guy who is lucky enough to fish some spectacular locations, it can feel weird to post about typical suburban fishing experiences. I almost didn’t post this… what do you think, should I post the normal stuff that doesn’t have cinematic backdrops? Gary Hornsby H$K another one on the pearl super fluke. It’ll get bites when none else will, due to the tantalizing tail. But I will say, the downside of that is I miss a lot of fish with it due to short strikes as they go after that tail. I missed 4 or 5 solid strikes tonight. I’m guessing you don’t have that problem with the monster wipers 😂. I’ve tried adding a stinger hook with decent success when jigging deep with the super fluke. But when long casting like tonight, a stinger hook just gets fouled too often, so I run with just the jig head.

Caught a personal best! I didn't have a tape so I laid him over the top of my home Depot bucket, so I could get a close estimate later. 😂
