65 inch Alaskan halibut, approximated at 141 lbs. took a solid 2.5 hours to land this big girl with rod and reel, after 2 separate dives to the bottom (110 ft) once getting her to the side of the boat, and 2 harpoonings (snapped the first harpoon cable before diving the 2nd time) we were able to land it. It was like reeling up a barn door off the bottom of the ocean that fought you the whole way, my whole body was in pain. When it would dive I was pinned to the side of the boat holding on for dear life! Awesome experience. My girlfriend and I pictured (we were on her fathers fishing boat) fish was bigger than her. Filled my freezer!
