Jumped on one of my works charter 1.5 day on the islander. Captain John let's us know that we will be chugging out to Tanner Bank and we won't do any night fishing. We get out to the bank at 6am and the place is loaded with other charter boats. We dropped anchor on the south end of group of boats and started fly lining our bait. They suggested using 25/30lb or 40/50lb setups. Over the next 4 hours we picked off mostly yellowtail in the 20lb range and a few smaller bluefin. At 11am the bite completely stopped and the captain tells us we are going to head out another 15 miles to the edge of the bank. Fished there for a few hours and only landed 2 more bluefin (one bigger maybe 60lb off the balloon). It was slow fishing all day and sounded like the other boats were having the same slow day. Back at the dock this morning at 6:30. Weather was perfect out there with sun and light wind. Swell was 3-5ft. I ended up with the jackpot 30lb yellowtail. Chef Alex did another fantastic job of keeping us well fed and hydrated. He's always walking around making sure everyone has a beverage. For breakfast we had pancakes, bacon, and eggs. Muffins for snack, teriyaki chicken for lunch. Prime rib dinner and strawberry shortcake for dinner.

Do you take a bite of the heart on your first 200+lb? Biggest fish I've ever seen in reel life.
