Couple small kokanee off Alouette. Sadly I had a big one get away, but hey, that’s fishing 🤷🏼‍♂️😂

My first fish caught in Canada, its not much but its a start

Alouette lake yesterday. Was there fore canoeing but still brought the rod. Thought it was weed until it came out. First kokanee, fought hard. 😄It had roe in it, anyone know if you can cure it and use it as bait?

Some absolutely gorgeous wild Kokanee to be caught in the Lower Mainland. While they don't get as big as their friends in the interior, they still make for excellent eating (arguably the best freshwater fish to be found in the Vancouver area). Since I don't want the spot to get blown out I've tagged it at a lake where they are available. Caught on my inflatable Intex Kayak with a Gibbs Dog Tail Dodger, micro Pink Hoochie, and some pink Pautzke fire cured deli shrimp. Long line trolled it behind and experimented with depth, speed, turns, etc. Not super easy on a cheap paddle inflatable. Remember that Kokanee is a catch a keep fishery as they suffer a high catch mortality, so please don't high grade them. Catch, bonk, bleed, gut, and enjoy your tasty lake salmon!
