The conditions for fishing are the worst possible for fishing back home. The river flow is unstable, ranging from 800m3/s to 2500m3/s in just one day. After fishing in a extreme hot day, I caught three Trahiras and broke my favorite rod... Not a day to remember fondly... The Trahira is the most popular Brazilian sport fish since its occurs naturally in every single region in the country. It strikes every kind of lures in the water, using ambushing from dark places in logs, plants and rocky crevices, on calm, boggish waters. It's a very valiant fish, one of the few species able to figh in equal terms against the voracious peacock bass. It's not uncommon to see a Trahira strike the lure again, right after being catched and released.

Caught two peacock basses today, using a 5g twitch bait (KV Lips Jr.). The erratic swimming nature makes twitch baits a very effective choice for Peacock basses, floating ones for a topwater or subsurface take. Or sinking ones, for deeper depths, using the countdown technique. #2020BassOff

Another very good Peaock bass fishing day! 7 catches, 5 of them on my power BFS setup using a Calcutta 51XT and a 10LB carbon rod. Several Piranhas were caught too. #2020BassOff

A five-pounder peacock bass, caught under a finesse-oriented set-up. What a fight! It fought hard, but clean! #2020BassOff
