I learned a valuable lesson with this 1lb channel. Never assume that the fish can't hurt you, even if it's a smaller example of the species. I assumed that my hands were strong enough to deal with his worst, and I didn't hold him properly. He lept out of my right hand, and stabbed the base of my left thumb. It bled and bruised like crazy since he hit the vein on the thumb, but the damage was extremely minimal. Be sure to keep a first aid kit in order to treat the wound, and prevent infection. Follow up treatment with a good beer.
