This genius of a youngin swallowed two whole minnows off of my tiny circle hook, hooked himself, and wrapped himself in my line all in one motion. It appeared as a weird hit from my POV, and then nothing. He didn't fight. He didn't move. He stayed in that position until I checked my bait about 20 minutes later. Sure enough, he was on it, but the retrieve felt "off". I thought I snagged him until he came out of his self made "knot" closer to shore. He wasn't done there though. When I put him back, he shot out into the water, then noticed the minnow I had in my open trap just in the water to keep them alive. They spotted him, and began jumping like crazy. He spotted them, and decided to run head first into the open trap. After banging his head, he thought better of it, then turned around back towards the river.

A very frustrating 2 days of blown out rivers and little action. This little smallmouth put a smile on my face. According to a few fisherman I've run into, it's been tough out there lately.

Just bought a new GX2 paired with an Eagle Claw spinning reel I had laying around. Looks like the pair worked on this little carp.
