The home pond produced for me today! This was the best day I’ve ever had at Burr Oak! . I haven’t fished burr oak much at all this year but thought I’d give it a try today. Going into the day I had a game plan and I executed it to near perfection even with losing 2 more decent fish. The theme of the day was to be different, fish lures that not many people fish at this lake, but still fish in a way that gives me confidence in what I’m doing. I intended on fishing 3 lures and all 3 put fish in the boat. Flipping grass edges with a power shot was the money today. I put several fish in the boat doing exactly that. I also spent time covering water with a jighead minnow (without FFS) and targeting deeper points with a wobble head. . Had to call in the troops (Lil’ Trooper) to save the day. Fish were stubborn at burr oak but I managed to put a few in the boat. . . After fishing some of the max scent stuff from @berkleyfishing I can say that I’m a believer. I can’t tell you how many fish that I have caught on the flat worm and now the lil trooper. I fished a couple of different ned rig lures throughout the day, and many of them were nearly identical size and profile, but the only one that put fish in the boat was the max scent. . . The days before starting back to work is dwindling down so I decided to take a break from my preparation and take advantage of the weather and head to the home pond. I grew up 10-15 minutes from burr oak and fished it numerous times over the years. It’s always kicked my tail. A good day for me usually is catching 2-3 fish that together are lucky to weigh a pound. The best day of fishing I’ve ever had there involved me catching about 7 or 8 one pounders. Burr oak is a lake that has some really good fish in it but there are hard to find and it has tons of dinks. So for me to catch the fish I did today, I’d call it a success. .
