I think this is actually a Muskellunge. According to the North Dakota fish identification guide a Muskellunge has vertical bars and 6-8 pores on each side of the lower jaw. A Northern Pike has horizontal body spots and no more than 5 pores on the lower jaw. This fish has 8 and vertical bars. I think I misidentified this when I originally caught and posted this.

Finally got the wife up to North Dakota from Oklahoma and had a day off. Got tired of catching “mini” yellow perch, so I put her on a bigger fish.

Beautiful day to catch some fish. Caught several bluegill and small “stock” size rainbows. Kept limit of bigger ones. Also nice big surprise on a little fly jig. 😬😄
