Had a blast my last day in Maine on our annual late summer beat the heat trip catching schoolie stripers on lightweight fly rods! These scrappy schoolies would follow the fly within 10ft of the boat beating the more lethargic bigger fish to the punch on a chilly 42° morning. My guide Kyle Shafaefer of Soul Fly Outtfitters said it was the coldest morning of the season since late April. Fortunately it wasn’t very windy & this SoFlo salty was able to handle it. It was totally worth it just to see them eat right in front of you. I’ve caught many stripers over the years, but I’ve never caught any on fly rods. So this was super cool #bucketlist #kitterymaine
